Tinnitus treatment is music to the ear
Sound patterns in music can be used to fool the brain into refusing to hear the annoying high-pitched sounds produced in tinnitus, a Perth scientist has said.
Using a computer program to customise the treatment of each individual, Perth-based audiologist and Associate Professor of health science Paul Davis said he could cure tinnitus.

"We devise patterns of sounds based on a person's individual tinnitus and hearing pattern and integrate them into relaxation music," he said.
"We're basically re-wiring the brain over about six months."
Tinnitus sufferers hear humming or buzzing background sounds or a ringing or whistling sound in the ears.
